Austria and Mexico won goal at the tournament played in Gothenburg, Sweden last week, as the United States were defeated in both the men's and women's finals.  Austria held on as time expired in a dramatic men's Gold Medal game to beat USA 47-40 having taken the lead with only 21 seconds remaining.  Mexico's women celebrated an even closer 33-32 overtime victory over USA, converting an extra point to claim gold after the game had been tied at 26-26 after regulation.

Michael Terzer of Austria was named the men's tournament MVP, while Sandra Romero from Mexico took the women's honor.

"The technical standard of the players was excellent and there were many impressive athletes on show," said Tournament Director ROOPE NORONEN.  "It was a challenge to only be able to select ten offensive and ten defensive players from each competition, such was the quality of play."

Austria, Panama and the United States led the way among the men's awards with three players named to the first and second team selections, followed by Canada, Denmark, Israel, Italy and Mexico with two each and Japan with one.
